Upholstery and Colour Trends from High Point Market 2015
High Point Market is like the fashion runway of the furniture industry. The latest trends and finishes are there to entice your senses.
The level of detailing and the use of colour is amazing. Here is a small recap of some of the interesting upholstery details we saw.
The use of banding showed up on upholstery everywhere. The navy inset banding on this sofa at Century Furniture was exquisite.
Tufting is still going strong. Love the sputnik chandelier in this Chaddock showroom.
Notice the slight curve on the tight back of the sofa below and then the dimpling created by the nailhead on the side. And again, notice the curved base of the sofa.
Feminine looking, lovely little chairs were also very popular.
Modern tufting versus deep traditional diamond tufts in this ottoman give it an updated look. Love the ornamental banding along the bottom too.
Notice the detailing on the 2 chairs on the right. The arms are beautifully tailored with nailhead trim and double row of banding bringing in the colours of the room.
A little animal print is always striking!
Did I mention there was blue everywhere….and velvet.
And lots of use of white. Both on upholstery and casegoods. Again, we loved the way they detailed the backs and arms of the upholstery.
This leather chair from Bernhardt was perhaps a little more feminine with the waterfall skirt?
And more feminine shapes on these dining chairs from Chaddock Furniture.
Here at Lumar we’re sensing a lot of beautiful shapes, blues and whites. How about you?
