Colour of the Year 2020

The Colour of the Year for 2020 has been selected by a number of authorities. Starting in October through to beginning of December the design industry is buzzing with announcements. Several factors help determine what the colour will be: economical climate, political climate, architectural and technological trends, and pop culture. Here are the 3 most anticipated announcements.

Benjamin Moore Colour of the Year for 2020

Benjamin Moore predicts we will see a lot more soft pink in the coming year. Their pick is First Light #2102-70 claiming it is a fresh palette which symbolizes a revitalized spirit. It is the backdrop for a bright new decade.

Sherwin Williams Colour of the Year for 2020

Naval SW6244 was the pick for Colour of the Year 2020. This rich shade of blue is both calm and grounding and also evokes confidence in the new decade to come. Sherwin Williams predicts bold colour for the new decade.

Pantone Colour of the Year 2020

Pantone’s colour is the most anticipated announcement. Many industrial designers rely on this for inspiration for their product designs. Everything from car colours to home decor products take their cues from their predictions. 2020 Colour of the Year for Pantone is Classic Blue. Like Sherwin Williams it is supposed to reflect a stable and dependable foundation to leap into the new decade with.

Lumar Interiors has been using a dash of blue in many of its interiors over the past 5 years. We joke that it is our new neutral. Its comfortable and yet, has some strength. The Benjamin Moore New Light feels like it is an introduction to a new neutral wall colour. We are steering away from the greys and on to warmer neutral wall colours. Let’s see what 2020 will bring!
