A whole lotta lighting happening here
There is a whole lotta lighting happening here at Lumar Interiors. We have sourced 25 light fixtures in the past 45 days: some a little vintage, some a little bit modern, others oh, so classically beautiful!
Contrary to popular belief decorators don’t always get called in to do the whole room or house at once. Many times people work in stages. For instance a couple in the Beach area of Toronto called us in a couple of months ago with 3 main requests : paint colours, living and dining room drapery and light fixtures throughout their recent new build. (Though we have a few other things in mind we want to propose;)) This beautifully built home was given basic builder fixtures and was in need of ones that would add some ‘wow’ factor and presence where needed. Our starting point was a 2-story high living room with a grand dark wood stained fireplace. We’ve have 2 proposals for that room but this is our favourite!

Bronze and crystal chandelier
Another couple in Vaughan called us in, again, to finish off the main floor. Main furniture pieces were already in place. Ceilings were 12′ high in some areas and it was very open concept. So you can imagine how cavernous a home can feel with such tall ceilings. First phase was to propose window coverings, area rugs and lighting fixtures for living, dining, family rooms and kitchen. What fun! We can’t wait to see the curtains installed in the rooms as they will totally warm up the spaces. But I truly can’t wait to see the light fixtures up. Here’s one we are dying to see.

Cognac coloured glass chandelier
A past client in Richmond hill (see more rooms from this house here) called us in December to source light fixtures for the front hall. Again it was a 2-story space with gorgeous limestone floors. We needed to find a fixture and some wall sconces. This lantern is going up in a couple of weeks and again, dying to see it there. It will have a beautiful presence.

We finished up a master bedroom inToronto before Christmas. We were working with an existing bed and an heirloom persian rug. We added drapery, bedding, a stunning blue velvet love seat, a bench, custom night stands and some gorgeous lighting.

Currey and Co blown glass chandelier
In a Thornhill new build we helped the homeowners with all the decorating: paint colours, wallcoverings, complete bedroom design, custom furniture….and we sourced some gorgeous wall sconces for their powder room. Can’t wait to see these go up on a black and gold striped wallpaper!

Gold Wall Sconces
Finally in Newmarket, we are working with a woman to slowly re-do her whole condo which is housed in a century home. We are starting with a complete gut and renovation of her master ensuite bathroom. In keeping with the vintagey feel of the home, we selected these wall sconces for either side of her mirror. The glass shades make these exquisite!

So as you can tell, we’ve done a lot of sourcing and of a lot of different styles. We love to do whole rooms but very often do just parts, often finishing it off. We hope to bring you pictures of these rooms completed in the next few months, so stay tuned:)
