Are you a green person or a blue person when decorating?

I ask that because, funnily enough, after having worked on 100’s of decorating projects  I find people  either belong to  one colour camp or the other.  They either love blues and say they don’t like greens or they love greens and would never use the colour blue in their decor.  Why that is, I’m not sure.  But when Pantone announced Emerald Green as colour of the year for 2013, I was a happy camper because I’ve loved greens for as far as back as I can remember.

“Green is the most abundant hue in nature – the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “As it has throughout history, multifaceted Emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate. Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world. This powerful and universally appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.”

Yes, I remember the dress I had made for my prom (just a few years ago;)) was green;  (interestingly, Luisa’s favourite colour has always been blue and her prom dress was blue) I remember the first coat I chose as a young girl was green; and I’ve always decorated my homes in a shade of green.  Somehow, its part of my DNA.

If you don’t think you would like to live in a completely green room, here are some accents you can add to your home to give you that fresh update.

But as for the blue campers, no worries…..as far as I’m concerned  if I had to forecast a hot colour trend, I would have said blue.  All the fabric suppliers seem to be showing loads of new blue fabrics.  So I don’t think the blue-lovers will feel deprived.
